Bikeloop launches smart and secure bike parking in Helsinki
– Cyclists in Helsinki now have a new, safe, and smart way to park their bikes. Bikeloop is opening its new bike parking facility today at a central location in front of Kiasma, near the Baana bike path, Helsinki Music House, and Helsinki Central Station.
EIGHT BICYCLE SPACES ARE AVAILABLE: Cyclists in Helsinki can park their bicycles safely.
The bicycle parking, which can accommodate up to eight bicycles, is designed to provide safe and easy bicycle parking. The service can be reserved via the Bikeloop app, which allows cyclists to secure a place for their bicycles in advance and park safely.
This new facility is the result of Bikeloop's victory in a competition organized by Mobility Lab Helsinki, a project launched by Forum Virium Helsinki and Business Helsinki. In the competition, which involved a total of 22 providers, Bikeloop's innovative solution was selected for its ability to improve bicycle parking and contribute to increased use of bicycles as a mode of transportation in the city.
– Improving the infrastructure for bicycle parking is crucial for promoting cycling as a sustainable form of transport, says Jussi Knuuttila, project manager at Forum Virium Helsinki. –Safe bicycle parking reduces the risk of theft, which can help increase the number of active cyclists in the city.
To mark the launch, Hedda Heyerdahl and Richard Dirdal from Bikeloop will be present at the facility on Friday, September 13 at 09:00, where they will demonstrate how cyclists can reserve and use the bicycle parking.
With this launch, Helsinki takes an important step toward making bicycle parking easier and safer, while simultaneously offering an innovative option for cyclists in the capital.
