Heimstaden and Bikeloop are launching Norway's first resident-paid smart bike parking.
In collaboration with Bikeloop, Heimstaden Norway is launching the country's first resident-paid, smart bike parking solution. The pilot project, established in Grünerløkka in Oslo, marks an important step towards safer and more sustainable mobility in Norwegian residential areas.
The new solution allows residents to rent and manage bicycle parking via an app, pay for actual use, and gain easy access through App and IoT technology. The facility is operated by Bikeloop and is integrated into the company's platform for secure, app-controlled parking.
Smart services – easy access
Through the Bikeloop platform, users gain access to personal parking, automatic payment, and usage history.
The service requires no app download for first-time use: residents can start parking via QR code and Vipps, and then link the solution to the Bikeloop app for further use.
– “This is an important breakthrough for us. Heimstaden is leading the way by providing residents with easy, secure, and flexible bicycle parking – without the need for a physical key or membership. This is how future mobility should work,” says Hedda Heyerdahl, founder of Bikeloop.
Part of a larger shift in the housing sector
The solution at Heimstaden is part of Bikeloop's research and development program, where various concepts for “bicycle parking as a service” are being tested against housing cooperatives, commercial properties, and public actors.
The project aims to provide insight into how resident-driven and payment-based parking can contribute to:
reduced car usage and increased bicycle share
better resource utilization of space
higher security for residents' bicycles
– “We see that secure bicycle parking is not just about building spaces, but about creating active, sustainable living environments. Heimstaden has been a brave and forward-thinking partner that shares our vision,” says Hedda Heyerdahl.
Norway's first of its kind
The pilot facility in Grünerløkka is the first in Norway to combine payment, access, and operation in one comprehensive digital solution.
Users only pay for actual usage time, while the operation is managed by Bikeloop according to the company's service terms.
The solution is designed for scaling and can be easily implemented in housing cooperatives and commercial buildings that need secure parking.
